Personal Flag of Erich Honecker as Party and State Council Chairman.
This double sided flag features the colors black, red and gold with the state coat of arms of the GDR in gold bullion embroidery. Also features golden hanging fringe to three sides. This flag is attached to the original two-piece staff with gilded finial featuring hammer and compass. Attached to the staff is the red ribbon of the Workers' Movement.
Magnificent and extremely elaborately embroidered flag which corresponds to the pattern of the unit flags of the GDR. This flag was in Erich Honecker's study as a Symbol of his position as party and State Council Chairman.
The regular unit flags of the GDR are almost without exception in the Military History Museum of the Bundeswehr in Dresden.
It is therefore practically impossible to purchase an original example.
A museum piece of the greatest rarity and historically significance for the history of the GDR.
