64 Presentation Trophy to Hans - Joachim Marseille by the Officer's of Jagdgeschwader 27 (Africa).

 Squadron gift in the form of a stepped stand made of black granite with engraved dedication shield and surmounted by a bronze eagle with outstretched wings.

On the back of the eagle base artist's signature: "A. Daumiller".

On the stele applied silver dedication plaque with the inscription:

"OUR CAMERAD / LEUTNANT / HANS - JOACHIM / MARSEILLE /TO REMEMBER / 24.9.41".

Below this the names of the officers of squadron I / JG 27:

CAPTAIN HOMUT, FIRST LIEUTENANT SINNER, FIRST LIEUTENANT RODEL, FIRST LIEUTENANT VÖGEL, LIEUTENANT KAISER, LIEUTENANT REMMER, LIEUTENANT HOFFMANN, LIEUTENANT SCHÖSBÖCK, LIEUTENANT STAHLSCHMI, LT. V. LIERES AND WILKAU. - Below: "I / JG 27. N. AFRICA"

The dedication plaque with silvermark "950". Plaque is ttached to the granite stele with four rivets. At the top applied enameled squadron emblem of Jagdgeschwader 27 (Afrikageschwader). 

Height: 29 cm. Wing span of the eagle wings: 21.5 cm.

On September 24, 1941, Hans - Joachim Marseille had shot down 4 enemy aircraft (Hurricanes) in one day (see Ring / Shores: Luftkampf zwischen Sand und Sonne, p. 96).

Highly important presentation trophy to the legendary "Star of Africa" , the most successful fighter pilot in the African theater of war with 158 aerial victories, Hans - Joachim Marseille,recipient of the Oak Leaves with Swords and Diamonds to the Knight's Cross of the Iron Cross.
