204 Tailor's Display Model of the Visor hat of a Marshal of Italy (Primo Maresciallo dell' Impero)

Field grey cloth, the waistband of fine grey silk with a double silver-embroidered bandeau. Italian sovereign eagle in gilt metal thread embroidery applied to the front. Patinated leather peak and storm strap.

Inside with original white silk lining and the gold-stamped maker's lable: "PAOLILLO TRIPOLI" and the Italian royal coat of arms. Brown leather sweatband with maker's signet in gold embossing.

The honorary title (rank) of Primo Maresciallo dell' Impero was introduced on 2 April 1938 and represents an elevation over the other Marshals of Italy. It was reserved for King Vittorio Emanuele III and the Duce alone.

Extremely fine and detailed display model by this manufacturer based in Tripoli in (Italian) North Africa.

Highly interesting historical piece on the history of the African campaign as well as colonial history during Italian fascism.
