327 Royal presentation sword of King Charles X. of France to Justin de Mac-Carthy, 1830.

 The hilt fire-gilt bronze with rich arabesque decoration. The pommel as a bust of a Roman general. Fine mother-of-pearl grip scales held by gilded dolphins at the lower end.

The guard with the French royal coat of arms resting on trophies of arms. Triangular blade with fine etched decoration. The etched dedication inscription on the reverse:

"DONNÉ PAR le ROI a Mr. JUSTIN de MAC-CARTHY / SORTI DES PAGES 1830".

Black leather scabbard with finely chiselled and engraved fire-gilt mountings.

Beautiful, splendid and extremely finely crafted royal presentation sword of exceptional rarity.
