328 Presentation - sword of the French (Navy) Life Saving Society to their president Count Guerin de Cencin.

 The hilt made of gilded tombac with floral decor. The basket with floral motifs and anchor. Black fluted wooden grip. Double fullered single-edged blade with etched dedication inscription:

"Sabre d'honneur offert par la sociéte des Sauveteurs à leur honorable Président / Mr. le Cte. Guérin de Cencin nommé par H.M. l'Empereur".

Ricasso of the obverse side hallmarked with crowned letters "B" and "D". Manufacturer's signature of Manufacture de Klingenthal on the back. Black lacquered leather scabbard with gilded fittings and plastic floral decoration. Crowned anchor applied to both sides of the upper fitting.

With original portepee.

Beautiful and very interesting edged weapon from the period of the 2nd French Empire (1852-1870).
