320 Sword of Honor for the Conquerors of the Bastille "Vainqueurs de la Bastille" awarded to Étienne - Noel Blanchet.

Rare and perhaps almost unique sabre to reward the Conquerors of the Bastille.

This sword is one of the few that were presented to the victors of the Bastille with an outfit that included uniform, rifle, pistol, sabre and, as decoration, the "Couronne Murale".

Calotte in the form of a beautiful helmet with mask surrounded by a laurel wreath and a feather falling on the three-part tail of the calotte. Oval, opened top plate with two lictor bundles and countered axes. Two-armed hilt. Between the handle a burning grenade in relief with fine engraving of a laurel wreath surrounding the words "La Loi, Le Roi" (The Law, the King) between three lilies.

Surmounted by an engraved dedication: "L'Assemblée Nationale", below "E.N. BLANCHET".

Below the grenade is a raised banner engraved "VAINQUEURS DE LA BASTILLE".

Edged blade with a flat back and two hollow grinds. Leather scabbard with two brass fittings, unfortunately broken in the middle.

This very fine quality sword, especially in the execution of the chasing and gilding is a piece of great historical interest for the period of the French Revolution, one of the most significant events in worlds history.
