Colli fought as an officer in the 4th Corps under the French Marshal Massena in the battle of Aspern-Essling. Emperor Napoleon awarded him the Order of the Legion of Honour and promoted him to lieutenant for his bravery. He then took part in the Battle of Wagram, in which he was wounded several times and lost his right leg.

Colli was the godson of King Victor Amedo III, of Sardinia, and received the Order of Saint Maurice and Saint Lazarus in 1844. During the occupation of Lombardy in 1848, he was appointed Governor of Milan by King Charles Albert. As Senator of the Kingdom of Sardinia, he was Minister of Foreign Affairs.

Very rare early badge of fine quality and excellent condition.

With a mostinteresting provenance. Included some xeroxes of paintings and biographic research on  Lieutenant General Vittorio Colli, Marchese di Felizzano.
