Dated Court of Saint James, 1 December 1908. With original signature of King Edward VII (1901 - 1910).

With large attached silver-plated seal case with wax seal of King Edward VII. British royal coat of arms applied to the lid. In the bottom the maker's mark of the court jeweller Garrard, London. With silver tassels attached.

Diameter of the seal capsule: 185 mm.

In the original green case with embossed cipher of king Edward VII, on the side with gold-applied maker's signature of Wickwar & Co, London.

James Rennell Rodd, 1st Baron Rennell GCB, GCMG, GCVO, PC (* 9 November 1858 in London; † 26 July 1941) was a British diplomat and politician. In 1908 he was posted to Rome as British Ambassador to Italy. As British representative in Italy during the First World War, Rodd was concerned to win Italy over to the Triple Entente from 1914 onwards.
