  Extremely finely crafted gold box in the best old Prussian jeweler's quality. Gold background guilloche on both sides with enamel inlays. Lid flips up with compartment to hold a tablet for court balls. On the front gallantry scene within a landscape surrounded by architecturally designed rocailles in the finest colored enamel painting. The reverse side with similar gallantry scene of courtly lovers with additional erotic element of bared breast. In beautiful curved original case made of dark brown leather, the lid with gold embossing. Interior with red velvet inlay.

Daniel Nikolaus Chodowiecki (born October 16, 1726 in Danzig; died February 7, 1801 in Berlin) was the most popular German engraver, graphic artist and illustrator of the 18th century.

Beautiful object of vertu in the finest goldsmith's work in the rococo style typical of the age of Frederick the Great.
