 Commander's Neck Badge. Gold and enamel, without ribbon. The separately appliedcenters made in three separate parts. The white enamel of the cross arms in bulbous design.

Very nice, early example around 1870. In contrast to the very thin and flat worked, somewhat older examples from the time after the division of the order into four classes in 1856, this piece is much more vivid and strongly designed.

Rare in this version probably made by court jeweler Steinam.
