The Monumento Nazionale a Vittorio Emanuele II (National Monument to Victor Emmanuel II), usually called Vittoriano or Altare della Patria (Altar of the Fatherland), is a national monument in Rome completed in 1927. It is located on Capitoline Hill at the south end of Via del Corso between Piazza Venezia and the Roman Forum, next to Trajan's Forum. The monument is dedicated to the first king of the newly founded Kingdom of Italy, Victor Emmanuel II of the House of Savoy. Today it is one of the state symbols of the Italian Republic. The building houses the Museo del Risorgimento, which commemorates the Italian state-founding movement in the 19th century.

Important and precious historical object of high material value. The extremely fine craftsmanship suggests that it must be a gift to an important personality, perhaps even to the Duce, Benito Mussolini, himself.
