Ex auction Bank Leu, Zurich (22.5.1996, lot 349). Formerly from the Simmen Collection.

Awarded to officers and enlisted men for assistance in suppressing attempted coups against the Solothurn government on 21 October and 12 November 1814. 15 copies were minted in gold for officers, the enlisted men received silver medals.

Solothurn Gold Merit Medal. On the obverse engraved cantonal coat of arms within laurel branches. The reverse with crossed palm branches and the inscription: "PATRIA LIBERTA".

Both decorations exceptionally rare.
