166 Order of the Iron Crown - Order's Collar Chain from the Period Period of the 1st World War.

Silver - gilt and enamels. Collar comes complete with civil collar badge. This badge is crafted in gold and enamel and features pre-1918 Austrian gold hallmarks (750 gold mark for pieces produced and in storage pre-1864) and Rothe of Vienna maker's mark "FR".


This collar consists of a total of twelve links representing the Iron Crown of Lombardy, twelve links with bound oak leaf wreaths and twelve links with the cypher of Emperor Francis I.  The central link for attaching the Collar Badge.


Numerous links feature old Austrian official silver hallmark (greyhound) and the mark "A" for precious metal as well as the maker mark "FR" for Court Jeweler Rothe, Vienna.

 The  weight "345.50.-" is engraved on the reverse of the locking link. The locking tab is engraved with the award number: "No. 262".

The collar links feature superior quality hollow construction with enameled parts. The reverse of the cypher reflect finely chased and sculptured goldsmith craftsmanship. 


At the end of the K. u. K. monarchy, the orders were no longer made in Gold. Although these pieces are considered to be just as rare or sometimes even rarer as the ones crafted in gold.

Only a few pieces have survived in museums and private collections.
