75 Kriegsmarine Standard Pole Top
Gold-plated light metal version. Manufacturer's mark "BILDGIESSEREI KRAAS BERLIN S42" on the underside of the hilt.
Original braid of gilded metal threads with traces of the original nailing.
The first troop flag (standard) awarded to a land-based naval unit in the Third Reich was presented to the corresponding unit on 14 September 1936 during the 8th Reich Party Congress of the NSDAP in Nuremberg. Such naval troop flags were handed over at various times to units of naval artillery battalions, land-based naval regular units as well as various naval schools.
Not a single original example of the German Kriegsmarine standards appears to have survived, as they were destroyed on the orders of the naval command to avoid falling into the hands of the enemy.
The flag pole top offered here is one of the very few surviving parts of these regimental standards today.
Flawless original with undoubtedly authentic gilding.A highly important museum quality historical item of the utmost rarity.
