Expressive portrait of the slightly sideways turned emperor in the uniform of the Gardes du Corps regiment with black cuirass.
In a later gilt wooden frame.

Max Fleck b. 1870 was an academic painter, listed in Hans Vollmer Künstlerlexikon des 20. Jahrhunderts, studied at the academy in Munich, with M. Koner in Berlin and at the Academie Julian in Paris, resident in Charlottenburg (Berlin). Fleck was in favour with Kaiser Wilhelm II. A large-format painting of Kaiser Wilhelm II in Turkish uniform by Max Fleck, dated 1916, is still in the German Consulate General in Istanbul.
