The Third German Reich 1933 - 1945SSGeneral SS

90 SS - honour dagger with polished Röhm dedication, M 33.

Silver-plated nickel finish (nickel silver). Black wooden grip with inlaid, enamelled SS runes and silver-plated national eagle. Black blued scabbard with silver-plated mountings and a suspension ring. On original black leather hanger with RZM maker's mark M5 / 8 on the back.

The blade has the motto "My honour is loyalty" etched on the front. Dedication on the reverse: "In herzlicher Kameradschaft..." The name Ernst Röhm was ground out according to regulations after 30 June 1934.

With maker's mark Carl Eickhorn, Solingen. Stamped "III" on the quillons and "O" on the underside.

In all parts an original, typical Eickhorn dagger with precisely fitting wooden part. The blade on the obverse in outstanding condition, the name "Ernst Röhm" on the reverse very carefully and professionally ground out, probably by Eickhorn

The scabbard with only slight signs of wear and largely intact original bluing.

The SS Daggers of Honour with the dedication of the former Chief of Staff of the SA and SS Ernst Röhm were awarded exclusively to particularly deserving "Old Fighters" who had been in the SS before 31 December 1931.

After the so-called Röhm Putsch on 30 June 1934, the "Night of the Long Knives", almost all such dedications were completely or partially ground out of the daggers by the bearers on the express order of Reichsführer SS, Heinrich Himmler.

Very beautiful and rare specimen, very difficult to obtain in this outstanding condition.
