German Militaria

39 Kaiser Wilhelm II - Personal bicorne hat for admirals of the Imperial Navy.

Black felt trim with a wide border for admirals made of gilded metal thread embroidery. Folded imperial cockade at the front on a gilt imperial navy button with knitted cord of metal thread braiding. Tassels of gilded metal thread braiding at the two points.

Original lining of finest white silk with the cipher "W" Kaiser Wilhelm II crowned with the imperial crown embossed in gold.

Original black leather sweatband.

Signs of wear and use commensurate with age.

A large part of Kaiser Wilhelm II's extensive uniform is now in museum possession, primarily at Huis Doorn in the Netherlands.

Only a few items of uniform and headgear have been preserved in private ownership.

The bicorne hat offered here is impressive not only because it belonged to the Imperial Navy, which was particularly favoured by Wilhelm II, but also because it was actually worn a lot by the Emperor over a long period of time.

As can be seen in numerous contemporary photographs, the uniform of an admiral was one of the Emperor's favourite garments.

It is therefore a very personal memento from the possessions of the last German Emperor.

An important museum collector's item of great rarity.
