Books on Orders and Medals

33 H. Schulze - Illustrations to the chronicle of all knights - orders and decorations of all sovereigns and governments - dedicated to His Majesty the King of Prussia Frederick William IV. Berlin 1853.

Extremely rare illustrated volume of the two-volume work on the orders. Schulze's monumental and absolutely exhaustive, bilingual German-French work on orders is the best ever published in the field of literature on orders.

Even today, almost 170 years after its publication, there is information on numerous orders and decorations that cannot be found in any other work of specialist literature.

The title page contains a former owner's stamp "GROSS-HERZOGL. PRIVATE LIBRARY".

All the orders and decorations that existed in the world at the time are depicted on 45 magnificent colour lithographic plates.

In the beautiful, contemporary original binding made of dark brown leather with gold-stamped mouldings. The cover has a royal crown embossed in gold.

Even in large institutional libraries there are hardly any complete copies of the Schulze. The illustrated volume is almost always missing. Hardly any copies are known to be in private hands.

Of the utmost rarity.
