30 Order of Saint George of the Reunion: Breast Star to the Grand Cross.
Silver, the superimposed cross of the order and the medallion in gold and enamel. On pin. On the reverse side, a hook for wearing.
Particularly finely crafted exemplar with scaled cross arms in the style of the originally issued embroidered order stars. The medallion crafted in three parts.
Wear-related chipping in the red enamel of two cross arms, but in beautiful condition overall. The medallion oxidised.
Splendid example from the founding period of the order, around 1819 in particularly fine, sculpted Sicilian goldsmith work.
This military order, founded in 1819, was awarded only very rarely, especially in the upper classes. The Grand Cross was only awarded to generals who had distinguished themselves particularly in war.
The breast star of this order is one of the great rarities among the decorations of the Kingdom of the Two Sicilies.
Only a few examples are known to be in private hands.
