The order's chain is bronze-gilt and enamelled. The centre link has a reverse-side hook for hanging the order's insignia.

The seraphim heads are particularly sculpted and finely chiselled.

The Seraphine Order is the highest order of the Kingdom of Sweden and was always awarded only very sparingly, mostly to foreign heads of state, as well as the highest military and civilian dignitaries and outstanding personalities.

The collar, to be worn ‘only by special command of His Majesty’, consists of eleven golden seraph heads and eleven blue enamelled patriarch crosses.

It was awarded to foreigners only on rare occasions.
