84 Sachsen: Helm für Offiziere des Garde - Reiter Regiments, M 1822.
Tall leather skull with fire-gilded mountings. The tall comb with fluting on the sides. A shield with the crowned cipher ‘FAR’ for King Frederick August I (1763-1827) placed on the front. A martial trophy above it.
With original caterpillar, the fur trim almost completely lost. Medallions with Medusa heads on the sides for attaching the missing metal chinscales. On the left a metal folded cockade.
With original, somewhat damaged lining and black leather sweatband.
Signs of wear and tear consistent with age and use.
Very rare helmet and, despite its only moderate state of preservation, very difficult to obtain.
