96 Österreichichischer Offiziers - Dragonerhelm, 1. Hälfte 19. Jahrhundert.

Tall leather skull with fire-gilded mountings. The tall comb embossed on the sides with resting lions. A shield with the crowned cipher ‘F I.’ for Emperor Francis I (1768-1835) is affixed at the front. A trophy of arms above it. The caterpillar is missing. Medallions with lion heads on the sides for attaching the missing metal chinscales. Side straps.

With original, somewhat damaged inner lining and black leather sweatband. Signs of wear and tear consistent with age.

A very rare helmet and difficult to come by despite its only moderate state of preservation.
