Leather body with gilded brass fittings. The front band reads ‘WARERLOO / GOEHRDE’ – a medallion on the side displays the crowned cipher of King George V.
Gathered velvet waistband with chain trim all around. A tassel made of gilded metal threads at the back end of the caterpillar. The caterpillar with significant hair loss. Original, sewn lining and leather sweatband. Lacquered leather chin strap. Old inventory tag with no. ‘1066’ on the side. With labels from the auction house Sotheby's, auction Schloß Marienburg, lot 4224.
Rare, untouched helmet from the royal house of Hannover and, despite its only moderate state of preservation, a desirable collection piece.
