The ring in imposing large execution (16 x 14 cm). Silver - gilt and set with a large cut semi-precious stone, presumably amethyst. Engraved on the sides: "R. Corazzata 'AMMIRAGLIO DE SAINT BON'". Below it the crowned cipher of King Umberto I. On the opposite side the engraving: "EXEMPLUM EIUS DUCET / Venezia 29 aprile 1897". With engraved love knots. Symbol of the House of Savoy.

The ring in a magnificent presentation case of carved wood with silver-inlaid medallions on both sides bearing the cipher "VE" of King Vittorio Emanuele III.

On the interior lid a silver dedication plaque with the engraving: "A S.A.R. Il Duca di Genova La Spezia 7 luglio 1903". On the sides applied love knots of the House of Savoy in relief.

Case: 27 x 41 x 27 cm.

According to a tradition in the Italian Navy, these oversized rings were presented as symbolic marriage of the ship with the sea on the occasion of ship christenings.
