Overall height: 40 cm

Important portrait sculpture by the exceptional artist Josef Thorak, who was included in the Gottbegnadeten-Liste (God-Gifted List) in 1944.

Josef Thorak was, alongside Arno Breker, the most important sculptor in the Third Reich. Even before the outbreak of war, Hitler had an enormous studio — the largest in Europe — built for him in Baldham near Munich according to plans by Albert Speer, in which Thorak could create sculptures up to 17 meters high in a single piece. In 1944, Hitler placed him on the "Gottbegnadetenliste" (God-Gifted List), which exempted him from military service, as well as on the special list of the "twelve irreplaceable visual artists".
