The grip of onyx with applied gold crowned cipher “VE” of King Vittorio Emanuele III. Above it a panel with date “A VI” (1928). The pommel crafted of gold with pierced laurel leaves, the berries set as cut rubies. Semi-precious stone set into the top with finely chased letters “F.E.R.T.” inlaid in gold (the motto of the House of Savoy).
The crossguard fashioned as spread eagle wings in finest silver smithwork. In the center the coat of arms of the House of Savoy set in gold and studded with rubies and diamonds.
The blade of polished steel, the inner panels gilt with engraved inscription:
“S.M. il Re / I REDUCI DELLE PATRIE BATAGLIE”.
Below the ricasso etched flames on both sides.
In original case of oak wood, the lid with Italian royal coat of arms inlaid in silver, surrounded by the collar of the Order of the Annunziata.
