Silver, with gold and enamel inlays. Mounted on a pin. On the reverse, a manufacturer's label from the court jewelers Vincent Mayer's Söhne, Vienna, as well as the stamped letter “C” (Comtur). Old Austrian official hallmark.

In a beautiful original case, the lid bearing a gold-embossed inscription:

“F.J.O. / Star of the Commander's Cross”.

On the white silk lining of the inner lid, a gold-embossed manufacturer’s label of the firm V. Mayer’s Sons, Vienna.
