In a beautiful original case by the jeweller A. Casazza, Rome. The lid features the silver-gilt and enamelled papal coat of arms of Paul VI.
Also included is the original parchment certificate of award presented to Federal President Gustav Heinemann. Dated 21 March 1973. With the original signature of Pope Paul VI. In an original white leather case featuring the gold-embossed papal coat of arms of Paul VI, as well as a copy of the order’s statutes.
Also included is a photo album containing 29 large-format photographs of Federal President Gustav Heinemann’s state visit to the Vatican. Among these are several colour photographs featuring Pope Paul VI and several images of Heinemann wearing the Order of Pius collar conferred upon him by Pope Paul VI.
A significant collection of these collars, awarded only to heads of state, and a museum-quality collector’s item from the estate of Federal President Gustav Heinemann, relating to the history of the Federal Republic of Germany and the Vatican.
