Order of the Black Eagle - late 18th century embroidered breast star.

Especially large example from the last quarter of the 18th century made in silver lantern and sequins.

The particularly vivid and finely embroidered center medallion in gilded silver threads and silk embroidery.

Reverse with completely preserved cover paper.

As documented on numerous contemporary portraits of knights of the Order, breast stars of the Order in the 18th century were much larger than in later periods.

Already at the beginning of the 19th century and during the Napoleonic Wars the dimensions became considerably smaller due to military fashion of that period.

The piece of insignia offered hereis outstanding, not only by its beautiful embroidery quality but also by its, especially considering its age, quite excellent state of preservation.

This version is of extraordinary rarity and only very few comparable examples are still knonwn to exist.
