Auction 77 - Spring 2023

The 77th auction is scheduled to be held on Friday, May 5, 2023 at 2 pm (central European time) as a regular saleroom auction with an audience in our premises in Kirchheim unter Teck.

The sale with ca. 400 lots includes important historical collectors items and military antiques of all countries and periods. The complete catalogue is now online and you can start placing absentee bids or register for telephone bidding (for lots with a reserve price over € 500).

The online live - bidding function has been activated. Please do not forget to register for online live - bidding (livestream during the auction) after login. You can do so by clicking on the blue button "LIVE - Auction" and follow the instructions. You will then receive a confirmation from us after approval.

Please note that the LIVE function and absentee bids are not synchronised.


In addition to fine orders and militaria of the German states and European countries up to 1918, like the magnificent 1st Class Badge of the Imperial Russian Order of Saint Catherine, we are also auctioning some interesting lots on the history of the GDR. A fine selection of helmets and uniforms will also be offered in this sale.

In addition, we offer a top-class selection of rare awards historical antiques, important headgear and edged weapons from the period of the 18th century and the French Revolution.

In addition to the classic areas of medals and militaria, this auction also includes a selected choice of exquisite objects of vertue such as gold tabatiers and portrait miniatures.

Our extensive auction of highly important historical collectors items from the Third Reich Period will offer a magnificent selection of important uniforms. The first part of an extensive collection of fine and important orders and medals includes a number of Knight's Cross and German Cross in Gold groupings. The proceeds of these items will go to a renowned charity organisation to set up university scholarships.

Particularly outstanding pieces include what is probably Adolf Hitler's only surviving field-grey tunic (Waffenrock) from the famous Lattimer Collection and a breast star of the German National Prize for Art and Science made of gold, platinum and diamonds.

In the weeks following this auction in May, we will launch our first "Timed Auction" with the possibility of automated bidding. In this auction, several hundred lots of mainly interesting collector's items with estimates below € 1000 will be offered.

In June the auction house Thies & Schmid GmbH will hold an outstanding auction of important antique firearms and military ordnance weapons of all periods, primarily WWI and WW II.

Among the historical weapons in our gun sale are an important double-barrelled flintlock rifle from the armoury of the French King Louis XVI and a magnificent pair of Presentation Pistols by Jacques - Louis Arault in Versailles, ca 1765/74, given by the Dauphin (later King Louis XVI) to his personal page. A selection of very interesting early military Imperial Austrian and Royal Prussian Rifles from the period of King Frederick the Great are also included in this sale.

One of the highlights of the firearms requiring a permit (Auktionshaus Thies & Schmid GmbH) is the extremely rare carbine 98 from the Erfurt production of 1903 for MG troops in cal. 8 x 57mm IS (cartridge with pointed bullet) serial number 1106.

Some WWI and WWII Sniper Rifles will also be included among the many highlights of this sale.

Auction 76 December 10, 2022

 The 76th auction will be held on December 10, 2022 as a regular saleroom event with personal attendance in our business premises in Kirchheim unter Teck. The sale starts at 2.30 p.m. (CET).

Preview: Friday December 9 from 10 am - 6 pm and Saturday December 10 from 10 am - 1.30 pm.

The sale includes mainly historical collector's items of all countries and periods up to the year 1918.

We have already uploaded some lot numbers for you and will add many new lots daily until the auction. The complete catalog will consist of over 350 lots.

In addition to orders and decorations of the German states up to 1918, the auction sale also includes some lots on the history of the GDR, such as the National Order of Merit in gold awarded to Willi Stoph.

Among the highlights from the period of the German monarchy are a badge of the Prussian Order of the Black Eagle in diamonds and a Grand Cross set of the Order of the Red Eagle with crown.

We also offer numerous important International Orders, including a magnificent Collar Chain of the Russian Order of St. Andrew from 1831 (Pannasch), a highly important badge awarded to future Empress Catherine the Great in connection with the Order of St. Catherine, badges of the Order of Saint Alexander Nevski, the Order of the White Eagle and a selection of extremely rare Russian medal from the 18th century. 

A very special highlight is the French Order of Saint Esprit from the end of the 16th century. In addition, we offer an important selection of rare awards, historical antiques and edged weapons from the period of the French Revolution.

Among the historic firearms ( Auction 78 January 2023 ) are an important double-barrelled flintlock rifle of the French King Louis XVI and an important pair of presentation pistols given by the then Dauphin (Louis XVI) to his page. One of teh Highlights of firearms requiring a license (auctioned by Thies & Schmid GmbH) is the extremly rare "Karabiner 98 produced by Erfurt in 1903 for Machine Gun Troops Cal. 8 x 57mm IS (Patrone mit Spitzgeschoss) Serial Number 1106 in mint condition.

In addition to the classic areas of orders and militaria, this auction also includes a select choice of exquisite jewellery and objects of vertu such as gold boxes and portrait miniatures, including important objects from the estate of Benito Mussolini.

Of particular importance to collectors of historical collectibles of the 20th century is the unique group of medals, photos and documents of the leader of the Freikorps Oberland who commanded the storming of St. Annaberge in Upper Silesia Major Ernst Horadam.

Auction 75 Autumn 2022

Auction 75 is scheduled to take place on 22 October 2022 as a regular saleroom auction with live audience in our premises in Kirchheim unter Teck. The sale starts at 2.30 pm (German time)

Public Viewing: Friday October 21 from 10 am to 6 pm and Saturday October 22 from 10 am to 1.30 pm

The sale includes historical collector's items from the period of the 1930's and WW II., including a Spanish Cross in diamonds, an awarded oak leaves with swords (L/50) to the Knight's Cross, a collection of rare flags and trumpet banners as well as outstanding objects of historical personalities such as an important presentation desk eagle by J.G. 27 to Hans - Joachim Marseille, the legendary "Star of Africa".

Also featured in this sale are some highly important items of Facist Italy and the outstanding military 1st class sets with swords of the Prussian Red Eagle Order and Order of the Crown which rank among the most distinguished Prussian military awards of the Great War.

The catalogue is online. We have released most lots for bidding and will add more until the auction.

Welcome to our new website.

Our 74th auction will be held on June 25, 2022 at 2 pm (CET) with regular saleroom attendance at our premises in Kirchheim unter Teck (Germany). After logging in, you can view all contents of the catalogue. Please log in via "Login" by using the email adress of your registration and your password (if you do not have it click on forgot password and you will receive a new one). If you do not yet have access data please register.

We have already released a number of lots for you and activated the bidding function. After opening the lots you will find a bid button below the estimate. You can use it to place absentee bids or register for phone bidding.

You can also register for live online bidding via our own livestream. Please click on LIVE - Auction. Be live with us during the auction and place your bids from your device wherever you are. We will not charge any extra fee appart from the regular buyer's premium for this service.

The catalogue will be continuously expanded in the next few days days, i.e.we will release new lots for you every day.
