Blue velvet presentation case with two large gold commemorative medals on the death of King Victor Emmanuel II and on the accession of King Umberto I.
Medal for the accession of King Umberto I with inscription: "UMBERTO I RE D'ITALIA MARGHERITA DI SAVOIA REGINA" (UMBERTO I KING OF ITALY MARGARETE OF SAVOYEN QUEEN) . The portrait busts facing left, Margherita wears an oak crown.
On the reverse: "QUESTA E' LA FEDE DELLA MIA CASA QUESTA SARA' LA MIA FORZA" (THIS IS THE FAITH OF MY HOUSE THAT WILL BE MY STRENGTH). The king stands in front of the throne. Behind him emerge from the clouds King Carlo Alberto, Victor Emmanuel II and the personification of Italy resting on the Savoy shield.
On the lower margin: (XIX JANUARY MDCCCLXXVIII).
Signed "SPERANZA" (Filippo Speranza).

On the obverse the portrait of the king turned to the right and the inscription: "VITTORIO EMANUELE II RE D'ITALIA" . On the neck section signed "SPERANZA".
On the lower edge the inscription: "NATO A TORINO XIV MARZO MDCCCXX = MORTO A ROMA IV GENNAIO MDCCCLXXVIII".
Reverse with front view of the Pantheon and the inscription: "L'OPERA A CUI CONSACRAMMO LA NOSTRA VITA E' COMPIUTA". Below: "XVII GENNAIO = MDCCCLXXVIII".
