 Outstanding Decoration from the period of the French Revolution with Jacobin cap. Embroidered version of gilded metal threads on red cloth backing. Reverse with original white paper cover.

The Order of the Two Swords was the only Ancien Regime decoration adopted by the French Republic after the abolition of the Decoration Militaire (former Order of St. Louis and Ordre de Mérite Militaire). After the "Directoire" coming into power in November 1795 awards were discontinued.

Very beautiful and extremely rare version of which only very few examples are known.
