75 Order of Saint George of the Reunion: Breast Star to the Grand Cross with Sceptres for the Grand Master.

Silver breast star features a separately applied cross and a gold and enameled medallion. The reverse fitted with pin for wearing. With maker's signature:  "AUG=to Heider di DRESDA Fe: NAPOLI 1829".

Star shows minor wear and minor chips to the blue enamel but, overall in beautiful condition.

Magnificent breast star probably worn by King Francis I. (1825.1830) . Only the kings of the Two Sicilies as Grand Masters of the order were entitled to wear the insignia with sceptres instead of the regular swords.

Particularly fine, sculptural goldsmith's craftsmanship. The medallion is constructed in three parts.

This military order of Saint George of the Reunion, founded in 1819, was only awarded rarely, especially in the higher classes. The Grand cross was only awarded to generals who had distinguished themselves during war time.

Only the King of the two Sicilies as grand master had the right to wear insignia with sceptres. Only a few such breast stars from the various Kings from the House of Bourbon of the Two Sicilies are known to exist. 

This breast star is one of the greatest rarities among the awards of the Kingdom of the Two Sicilies and one of the most important Italian pieces of order insignia offered at auction in recent years.

Only a few examples are known of in in private collections.
