31 Gold Lady's Merit Decoration with Cypher "A" of Empress Augusta.

Women's merit order badge (merit brooch for women) in gold, with crowned initial "A" of Empress and Queen Augusta, on empress crown. Gold and enamel, on beautiful sewn original ladies bow. Reverse fitted with pin.

Augusta, whose full name was Augusta Marie Luise Katharina of Saxe-Weimar-Eisenach (* 30 September 1811 in Weimar; † 7 January 1890 in Berlin), from the Ernestine line of the House of Saxony (Wettin) was, as the wife of Wilhelm I, Queen of Prussia from 1861 and the first German Empress after the foundation of the German Empire in 1871.

Splendid example in finest jeweler's quality. HuS 1325 Var; OEK 1845.

Apparently this piece of order insignia (erroneously classified as a badge of honor by Hessenthal and Schreiber) in gold was awarded only once under Empress Augusta.

Of outstanding rarity.
