The document is handwritten on a large parchment sheet (double sheet), the name of the recipient is in raised gold letters.
Dated "Führerhauptquartier den 18. Oktober 1941". Signed by the Führer and Reich Chancellor Adolf Hitler (pantograph).

The Knight's Cross folder made of red Saffian - leather with gold embossed national eagle. The inside covers with parchment mirrors and hand-gilded line edging.
Signed "FRIEDA THIERSCH" on the lower back edge.
The leather retaining sheet torn at one end. The folder with signs of age and scratches. The vellum sheets in fine condition with the handwritten text of the document slightly rubbed.

Wilhelm "Willi" Hümmerich ( 1917 - 2008) was Platoon Leader, 14th Company (Panzerjäger) , III Battalion, Infantry Regiment 80, 34th Infantry Division. He was awarded the Knight's Cross of the Iron Cross on 18.10.1941. He had already been awarded the Army Honour Clasp on 20 September 1941.

Rare award document for a lieutenant of the reserve of this brave tank destroyer.
