339 German Red Cross: Standard Bearer's Gorget.

Shield and rest of matt nickel-plated light metal. A matt silver-plated decorative button in each of the upper corners. The Red Cross eagle created by Prof. Schweitzer (also known as Mjölnir) in 1938 separately applied and enamelled. The flag rests with Red Cross flag and swastika flags.
Carrying hook on the back, or eyelet for attaching the carrying chain.

With original grey felt cover.

The carrying chain is missing.

The gorget offered here at auction is illustrated and described in the well-known standard work by Wilhelm Saris and Andrew Mollo: Ringkragen und Brustschilder im Dritten Reich, Zweibrücken 2012, p. 188.

A splendid example of the best quality of manufacture and preservation. One of the rarest gorgets of the Third Reich.
