This wall hanging was captured by the American Staff Sergeant Daniel N. Wilson, 3rd Army Headquarters Detachment, 37th Medical Battalion of the 12th Corps during the capture of Metz at the end of November 1944 in a school building that served as SS headquarters.

Attached is a notarised affidavit from the US veteran and a number of photographs showing Wilson with the current owner in front of the tapestry. Also original newspaper dated 21 November 1944 about the capture of Metz by the 3rd US Army and the capture of the first SS General since D-Day (6 June 1944). Attached framed original photo of Sergeant Wilson in the circle of his comrades.

Very decorative and imposing wall hanging of excellent quality and great rarity.
