"Welcome to the Italian Fascist Mission

The Prefect of Osaka, K. Ikeda, the Mayor of Osaka, M. Sakama and the President of the Osaka Chamber of Commerce and Industry, I, Ataka have the honour to offer you this miniature helmet.
In ancient times, Japanese warriors used helmets and armour like the ancient Romans.
This miniature is an imitation of the helmet used by the hero Hamichan-taroh-Iosciie during the Gosannen War (in 1087).
In Japan annually in the first days of May the children's feast Gogatsu-Zekku = May Feast) is held in every family that has child or several children. in this feast, miniatures (dolls, flags, helmets, armour, etc.) are adorned in a room to wish happiness and prosperity for the child or children and one sometimes sees in the air large carp (about 3 metres long) made from cloth, attached to the top of a very long bamboo.
The carp is for us the symbol of prosperity.

April 1938 - XVI. F.F."
