317 Important sword of a high dignitary from the period of the French Revolution.

 The handle and scabbard of fire-gilt bronze. Black wooden grip with a diamond-shaped pattern and chiselled edges. The pommel with a Jacobin cap (Bonnet Phrygia) on the front and a trophy of arms on the back. Quillons in the shape of a coiled snake. The guard with an eagle and trophy of arms.  Double-edged plain blade with hallmark in the form of the lictor's bundle crowned by the Jacobin cap.

The scabbard in splendid fire gilding and especially finely chiselled with laurel branches. On the front fields or medallions with sculpted, hand-chased depictions of the personification of freedom "Liberté" and "Justitia" (Justice). On two rings.

Magnificent, probably unique edged  weapon of outstanding quality and great rarity.
